The history of energy production in the SemtinZone industrial area dates back to the establishment of the Czechoslovak Joint-Stock Factory for Explosive Substances in 1920. This is because chemical production cannot operate without energy. The current heating plant was commissioned in 1953–1954. Since then, it has undergone a number of modernization and environmental upgrades, and it remains a reliable source of energy for the entire industrial area.

Key milestones in the company´s history

1934

Construction of the original Semtín heating plant

1953–1954

The current “Zelená louka” heating plant was commissioned (at the time, its capacity was 2 × 100 tonnes of steam per hour and 2 × 10.5 MW of electrical energy)

1962–1963

Installation of 2 new boilers with a capacity of 2 × 125 tonnes of steam and 25 MW

1975
  • Installation of a new boiler with a capacity of 150 tonnes of steam and a 25 MW back-pressure turbine
  • Decommissioning of the original Semtín heating plant
1982–1992

Reconstruction of the “Zelená louka” heating plant

2016

Installation of a gas-fired boiler with a new gas connection and a fluidized-bed boiler with a flue-gas desulphurization unit; establishment of a biomass storage and handling system

2019

Installation of a new circulating fluidized-bed boiler enabling the combustion of a mixture of hard coal and lignite, with the option of co-firing biomass, including the installation of flue-gas desulphurization equipment

2026

Installation of a new turbogenerator
